Since 1984, Trident Booksellers & Café has been providing Back Bay residents, students, and tourists with sustenance for the mind and body. Trident is the perfect place to catch up with friends, study for your exam, grab brunch, or browse our wide selection of books and magazines.  We offer free wifi, an award-winning magazine selection, a full service restaurant, books, cards, gifts, and, above all, a unique Boston experience. With an extensive menu, featuring fresh juice and smoothies, breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as author and reader events it’s no wonder this charming bookstore has been a favorite of locals and tourists alike for more than 35 years.
However while well loved the bookstore’s identity feels a little worn and out of sync with the stylish, eclectic customers it sees every day. Over the last 5 years sales of merchandise for the bookstore itself have flagged, and stopped being a major source of revenue for the store. Other issues are also present in the current identity. The website especially is often cited by visitors as not easy to navigate, stating they would rather simply call the store to place on order or ask a question. This has proven troublesome for the Trident staff who have other duties to attend too while on shift. Questions generally fall into two categories; books & the café, fittingly enough, and some staff members are not trained in both areas.

Rebrand benefit hypothesis: by giving the Trident Booksellers & Café a fresh, eccentric identity and a website more focused on their customers needs they can eliminate a source of additional stress for employees and increase sales of bookstore merchandise.
This is a proposed rebrand and is in no way officially affiliated with Trident Café & Booksellers. Assets are noticed where sourced/external, and information in design brief/rebrand hypothesis is not meant to be anything more than a hypothetical or based on a local’s understanding of a favorite coffee spot. Feel free to drop a like if you enjoyed and see the video walkthrough of the proposed rebranded website!
